The working principle of WHOIS service is that when an Internet user searches for a domain name (or host, contact, etc.), WHOIS Server first establishes a TCP connection with the Client, then receives the information requested by the user, and queries the background domain name database accordingly. If there is a corresponding record in the database, it will feedback the relevant information to the Client. After the Server output is completed, the Client closes the connection, and the query process ends.

What is domain name whois?

Whois, or Who is, is a database used to query whether a domain name has been registered and the detailed information of the registered domain name. It is a transmission protocol used to query the IP and owner of the domain name. Whois usually uses TCP protocol port 43. If you want to know the specific information of the domain name, such as the domain name owner, registration time, registration agency, etc., you can do it through whois query. The whois information of each domain name/IP is saved by the corresponding management agency. For example: the WHOIS information of domain names ending with .COM is managed by VeriSign, the operator of the .COM domain name, and the .CN domain name of China's national top-level domain name is managed by CNNIC.

WHOIS service is generally provided by the WHOIS system. The WHOIS system is a Client/Server system.

In order to prevent someone from maliciously using the contact method of this whois information to expose the customer's privacy information, some registrars block the whois information of the domain name. If you want to query, you can only contact the corresponding registrar.

We can use some tools to query the whois information of the domain name. The domain name has a validity period.

What are the domain name deletion rules?

International domain name deletion rules:

(1) Suspend resolution on the day of expiration. If it is not renewed within 72 hours, the domain name DNS will be modified to point to the advertising page (parked). It can be automatically renewed within 38 days. After renewal, the system automatically restores the original DNS, and the refresh time is about 24-48 hours.

(2) 39-70 days, the domain name is in the redemption period. During this period, the domain name cannot be managed and must be redeemed manually! (The redemption period refers to the domain name being deleted from the international domain name database due to failure to renew within the normal renewal period. The international domain name database will retain the domain name for 30 days, which is called the redemption period.) During the redemption period, anyone can restore the domain name through the original registrar.

(3) 75 days, the domain name is completely deleted and anyone can re-register.

Domestic domain name deletion rules:

(1) The resolution will be suspended on the day of expiration. If it is not renewed within 72 hours, the domain name DNS will be modified to point to the advertising page (parked). It can be automatically renewed within 35 days.

(2) 36-48 days after expiration, it will enter a 13-day high-price redemption period, during which the domain name cannot be managed.

(3) If it is still not renewed 48 days after expiration, the domain name will be deleted at any time and anyone can re-register.

Be sure to pay attention to the expiration date of your domain name and renew it in time to avoid the domain name being deleted due to expiration or being registered by someone else.
