Who wrote the Bitcoin white paper?

The authors of the Bitcoin whitepaper used the pseudonym "Satoshi Nakamoto".

Although these anonymous programmers claimed to be men from Japan in their online profiles, they went to great lengths to conceal their true identities.

Years later, despite numerous attempts to claim to be the creator of Bitcoin, we still cannot be sure who Satoshi Nakamoto is.

Nakamoto worked on the development of the Bitcoin protocol for the first two years after its launch (2009 to 2011).

In April 2011, they left a message handing over control of the Bitcoin.org domain to Martii Malmi, one of Bitcoin's earliest developers. Many believe this was the last time Satoshi was active online, although inconclusive messages came from old accounts several years later.

Bitcoin.org was the first Bitcoin-related website ever, registered by Nakamoto and Malmi in August 2008. The webpage hosted the original Bitcoin white paper document for more than a decade until nChain chief scientist Craig Wright won a default copyright claim to the document in a 2021 UK court decision.
